AFTERCARE
.) Leave bandage on - Keep the bandage or wrap on your new tattoo for at least 2-4 hours, or as directed by your tattoo artist. This protects your tattoo from bacteria and potential infection.
.) Clean hands - Clean your hands thoroughly with anti-bacterial soap and warm water before touching tattoo. This will also prevent infection.
.) Gently clean the tattoo - After removing the bandage, gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap. Use fingertips to remove any blood, plasma, or ink. Avoid using a washcloth or anything abrasive.
.) Pat dry - Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean, soft paper towel or let it air dry. Do not rub, this may cause irritation.
.) Apply a thin/even layer of ointment - Once the tattoo is dry, apply a thin layer of a recommended ointment (Aquaphor, Coconut-oil). Use only a small amount to keep the tattoo moisturized without suffocating it.
.) Moisturize Regularly - After the first few days, switch to a fragrance-free lotion or tattoo aftercare product. Apply a thin layer several times a day to keep the skin hydrated and prevent itching.
.) Avoid Direct Sunlight - Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight for at least two weeks. Sun exposure can fade the colors and damage the healing skin.
.) No Picking or Scratching - As your tattoo heals, it will begin to scab and peel. Do not pick at the scabs or scratch the area, as this can lead to scarring and ink loss.
.) Avoid Soaking in Water - Refrain from soaking your tattoo in water—no baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, or saunas—until it’s fully healed. Stick to quick showers and avoid direct water pressure on the tattooed area.
Note - Healing times can vary, but generally, your tattoo should be fully healed within 2-4 weeks. If you notice any signs of infection, like excessive redness, swelling, or pus, contact your tattoo artist or a healthcare professional immediately.
